Introducing Dr. Bethany Silver: MCC Foundation's New Board President
Dr. Silver joined CT State Manchester faculty, staff, and student leaders in greeting the newest Cougars at one of the many Welcome Tables located across campus at the start of the fall semester. Smiles, snacks, and encouragement ensure every student starts the year supported and ready for success.
This July, the Manchester Community College (MCC) Foundation welcomed its new Board president, Bethany Silver, Ph.D. - the first MCC (now CT State Manchester) alumna to serve in this role. Dr. Silver brings to the Foundation president role more than 20 years of experience in education, leadership, and research, along with a lifelong connection to the College.
Dr. Silver began as a psychology instructor at Manchester in 1994, later serving at UConn’s Neag School of Education as Director of the Professional Development Academy and Assistant Professor of Educational Technology. She has also advised doctoral research at Central Connecticut State University, taught graduate courses at both institutions, and engaged in research with Hartford Hospital, Hartford Public Schools, the Capitol Region Education Council, and Bloomfield Public Schools, and served on the Manchester Board of Education.
Dr. Silver has published and presented nationally and internationally on predictive modeling, instructional data teaming, and creating visionary data environments. She holds a U.S. patent for an assessment reporting system.
A proud MCC graduate and first-generation college student, Dr. Silver describes her leadership approach as deeply rooted in her time at Manchester, where she found her footing in higher education and student leadership. As she steps into her new role, she brings both professional expertise and a personal commitment to the students and community CT State Manchester serves.
