Inspiring Stories from MCC Students
Our foundation plays a critical role in supporting CT State Manchester and its students in affording higher education. These are some of their stories.
“I decided to return to college as a young single father with a six-year-old daughter. While attending MCC, I worked two jobs for my town and an additional job at a hospital, but it was still difficult to make ends meet. Thanks to scholarships I received from MCC Foundation, I was able to achieve my goal of becoming a certified occupational therapy assistant. I am so happy to report that I am working as an OTA now and the future is looking brighter for my daughter and I, and the work I do fulfills my dream to be a health care worker, helping people heal and return to their families as soon as possible.”

“I moved to Connecticut from New York with plans to pursue my bachelor's degree in marketing. A few of my friends encouraged me to enroll at CT State Manchester because they had wonderful experiences here. I took their advice and submitted an application.
My biggest challenges as a student are time-management and job security. I have both a full-time and a part-time job in addition to my five college courses, and it's difficult to juggle so many obligations at once.
Receiving a scholarship has been a great help in allowing me more flexibility to focus on my coursework. I am very grateful for this opportunity, which brings me closer to my goal of going on to earn a bachelor's degree and starting my own clothing business."
